About Us

"We are social workers with lived experience, creating supportive environments by celebrating human diversity"

"Redefining Inclusion. Celebrating Difference. Driving Change."

Vision

A world that breaks the mould and where neurodiversity isn’t just accepted but celebrated as essential to innovation, creativity and progress. We envision workplaces, communities and systems that adapt boldly, embracing every individual’s unique strengths to create a society where everyone thrives.

Mission

To disrupt outdated narratives and rewire systems for inclusion. We partner with individuals, families and organisations to challenge misconceptions, dismantle barriers and foster environments that empower neurodivergent people. By driving real and sustainable change we amplify neurodivergent voices, celebrate their strengths and build a future where difference is valued, respected and embraced.

OUR Values

Challenge the Norm
We disrupt outdated narratives and challenge systems that marginalise neurodivergent individuals. It’s time to reimagine inclusion and stop settling for surface-level solutions.

Lead with Lived Experience
We know real change starts with listening to the people who live it. Lived experience is at the heart of everything we do, shaping solutions that work in the real world.

Adapt or Fall Behind
The burden of change doesn’t belong to the individual. We support organisations and systems to evolve, creating environments where neurodivergent individuals can thrive on their terms.

Strength in Diversity
We reject one-size-fits-all thinking. Neurodiversity drives innovation, creativity, and progress and we’re here to unlock that potential.

Radical Respect
Respect isn’t negotiable. It’s about valuing every individual as they are, not as others expect them to be. No apologies, no compromises.

Build Boldly
We don’t believe in quick fixes. Real solutions require depth, courage and commitment. We’re here for bold, sustainable change that truly makes a difference.

Own the Hard Conversations
Inclusion isn’t easy, but avoiding the tough topics won’t get us anywhere. We bring the courage and skill to tackle challenges head-on, with compassion and honesty.

Empowerment Over Compliance
Inclusion isn’t about ticking boxes, it’s about giving people the tools, voice and freedom to lead their own way. We focus on empowerment, not permission.

Celebrate Difference
Neurodiversity is a strength, not a problem to solve. We’re here to celebrate the perspectives and talents that make us all better.

Our "Why"

At Neurodiversity Unravelled, we celebrate the unique strengths and perspectives of neurodivergent individuals. Our name reflects our commitment to challenging misconceptions and recognising that environments play a significant role in shaping experiences and behaviours. By adopting a neuroaffirming and socio-ecological approach, we focus on adapting environments to support individuals, ensuring they feel valued, respected and empowered to thrive. Rather than placing the burden of change on the individual, we address external factors to create meaningful and sustainable outcomes for neurodivergent people and their communities.

We are deeply committed to the values of social work, which include respect for human dignity, the promotion of social justice and a focus on empowering individuals and communities. Social workers are uniquely positioned to support neurodivergent people as we take a holistic view of individuals within their environments, addressing barriers and advocating for systems that foster inclusion and equity. Through collaborative partnerships, social workers assist individuals in identifying and building on their strengths while working to dismantle societal barriers that may hinder their opportunities to thrive.

With professional expertise in social work and behaviour support, strengthened by our lived experience, we strive to uphold these values in all aspects of our work. By supporting individuals, families, and organisations, we create spaces where neurodivergent people are respected, empowered and celebrated.

Why Neurodivergent?

The term "neurodivergent" acknowledges individuals whose brain functions differ from the majority, encompassing conditions such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, and other neurodevelopmental or cognitive variations. These differences are not deficits or disorders but natural expressions of human diversity, each contributing uniquely to society’s collective strength.

At Neurodiversity Unravelled, we focus on recognising and amplifying the exceptional strengths, talents, and perspectives that neurodivergent individuals bring to their communities. By understanding these differences as part of a broader spectrum of human diversity, we move beyond stigmatising or deficit-based narratives. Instead, we celebrate the unique contributions of neurodivergent individuals while advocating for environments that foster respect, inclusion, and belonging.

This commitment to a strengths-based approach underscores our belief that diversity in thinking, learning and being enriches us all. Through collaboration, we aim to ensure that neurodivergent individuals are supported in ways that enable them to thrive, creating a society where everyone feels valued and respected for who they are.

What is Neurodiversity?

Neurodiversity is the recognition that neurological differences, such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, Tourette syndrome, and other cognitive or developmental variations, are natural and important aspects of human diversity. The term, introduced by sociologist Judy Singer in the late 1990s, encourages a shift away from viewing these differences as deficits or disorders and instead acknowledges them as unique ways of thinking, learning and experiencing the world.

This perspective promotes the idea that neurodivergent individuals have inherent value and strengths, while recognising the challenges they may face in environments that are not designed with their needs in mind. Neurodiversity advocates for creating supportive, inclusive spaces where individuals are not expected to conform to a single standard but are instead empowered to thrive as they are.

For neurodivergent individuals and their families, neurodiversity offers a positive and affirming framework that celebrates identity while addressing systemic barriers. For service providers, it serves as a reminder to adapt their practices to meet diverse needs rather than expecting individuals to fit into rigid systems. For employers, embracing neurodiversity unlocks new perspectives, innovative thinking, and untapped potential within their teams.

Neurodiversity is about creating a society that values and supports all ways of being. It is a call to action for celebrating differences, removing barriers, and fostering environments where everyone can feel respected, included, and valued.
